Merry Christmas!!!

Hiya folks! Sorry we’re a bit late this year in getting our letter out. Our excuse? We were in Florida for ten days with Neil’s family over Thanksgiving! The trip was wonderful, but it put me a bit behind.

The year has been a blessing but very busy. Our boy is 2 1/2 now and quite active. He needs plenty of running time, at either the beach or the park, or “Mimi” is in for a tough day! Luke is also very social, and we have been blessed by getting involved in two different mom’s groups and by meeting new friends with kids, so he has been getting plenty of interaction. I enrolled him in swimming lessons, tried out gymnastics, and just today, took him to a roller-skating rink for the first time. He did great! At his 2-year appt., he was 37 1/2 in., and 32+ lbs. If the statistics hold, we’ll have a 6 ft. 3 in. son by the time he’s 18!

For Neil and me, much has remained the same. Neil still works with the School of Worship (SOW) and does graphics. Just this month, he and Scott have been “recruited” to become more actively involved in the preparation for Creation Fest. I am still editing for my pastor, proofing for Calvary Chapel Magazine, and doing a bit of layout here and there. Our health seems to be fine, except that we’re both getting old! Neil just turned 39 this year, and at 42, chasing after a toddler all day is tiring work!

Since last Christmas, we have traveled a bit: a car trip to Sacramento; an overseas adventure to England; and as mentioned above, a family vacation to Florida. Our trip to Sacramento was especially memorable because Luke had his first-ever stomach flu the week leading up to it. The ride up was going okay until we got lost in downtown Sacramento. It was then Luke had an explosion, and we had to pull over into an underground parking area to try to clean him (and the car) up. We spent our days at a friend’s house swimming and playing while Neil was at a 3-day SOW retreat.

During the summer, the Lord provided for us to go to Creation Fest in Devon, England. We had a wonderful time, and Luke did well as a traveler—much better than we had hoped! We spent a few days in Exeter, then headed to where the festival is held and stayed on a working farm.

Finally, as mentioned, we headed to Florida in November. Neil’s parents, sister, and her husband came to the States for a few weeks, and we were able to stay with them in a condo about 15 minutes from Disney World. What fun! We went to the Animal Kingdom Park, Gator Land, and Sea World. The rest of the time, we swam, played pool and cards, and tried to keep dry in the Floridian humidity. Luke had so much fun with his nan and granddad, as well as Unca Cwint (Clint) and Auntie Shushan (Susan).

We are blessed to celebrate another Christmas rejoicing over the birth of our precious Savior, thankful yet again for all He has given us. May you reflect on He “who left Heaven’s throne to be cradled in a manger; who, having filled all things and wielded omnipotence, became a feeble infant and was wrapped in swaddling clothes” (Hudson Taylor’s Legacy, Daily Meditations, p. 31).

“Glory to God in the highest Heaven! Peace upon earth among men of goodwill!”
Luke 2:14, Phillips
